I must confess

May 30, 2014

I must confess that I picked up my daughter from school (like walked in to the school with a billion other parents) in pajama boxer shorts and a mens V-neck tshirt on Wednesday.

I must confess that the dust issue in this house is out of control. I dust every day and that shit keeps coming back fast and with it's cousins.

I must confess that if I don't get to the river soon, I will probably combust! I am not really sure why I feel that I need a vacation so badly (I'm a stay at home mom), but I do!

I must confess that Tbone and I watched like 5 episodes of Mysteries at the Museum last night and 1 of those, we had already seen. We are officially old and lame!

Anyway, happy Friday ya'll!

I'm like a 6 year old

May 27, 2014

So if you follow my IG or my FB, you will know that I decided to cut my bangs. If you don't follow my IG or FB, then you should... NOW!

This is what happens when I am left alone and un-attended... I either color or cut my hair. I really am like a 6 year old...

Once my ex went out with some friends and I was bored so I shaved the cat... Don't be dirty... I shaved the actual feline living in my house. While she napped (all 25lbs of her), I shaved her in to a lion cut. It was hilarious!

So on Sunday Tbone was busy watching 1 of a billion races on TV, the kids were at their dad's house and I was getting antsy... So I simply stood up and said, I am going to go cut myself some bangs...

Of course logical Tbone said, "are you sure you want to do that? maybe you should think about it for like 48 hours".  Nope, I'm gonna do it. I'll be back... and I came back in to the living room with new bangs and a cut finger.

Of all the time at Paul Mitchell, I never cut myself... I cut bangs in the bathroom and I slice my finger. Go figure!

Anyway, here is the finished product...

Ta-da!

and this was before in case you forgot what I looked like a few days ago.

Weekend Wrap Up

May 26, 2014

Weekend Wrap Up:

This week went by so fast and I feel like I got absolutely nothing done!
Now that Beaks is over his double ear infection, Boogs came home with the stomach flu. Poor thing had been throwing up all day at her dad's house and now is home and sleeping. I hate when my babies are sick... It's such a helpless feeling!

Weekly Pics

1. Family Bike Rides
2. My nieces new puppy Tucker.
3. Zeke after tucking himself in for the night.

4. My Mother's Day gift from my brother. He made me a shelf. I love it!
5. Flowers from the backyard.
6. Beaks and his best friend at the school Memorial Day bike parade

7. My front porch bench and pumpkin.
8. Coffee table that my brother made me.
9. I cut my hair and now have bangs.

Race Widow

May 25, 2014

I am a racing widow... Today is a beautiful Sunday but Tbone is very serious about racing. Today, we are sitting on the couch watching the Indy 500 and Nascar with flipping back and forth to Formula 1.

I enjoy watching racing (I prefer Nascar) but today would be a perfect day to be at the beach or hiking...

Are any of you widows to anything?

I think I'll sit outside and read a book... Catch some sunshine and plant some flowers.

I'm a Literary Junky!

May 20, 2014

I have read so many books lately, mostly because I like to sit on the couch while Tbone watches his shows (Nascar Nationwide racing, Nascar Sprint Cup racing, Indy Car racing, drag racing, biker build offs, car restorations, rat rod restorations, barn car finds, and car auctions) on the weekends. Most of the books I have read have been mindless smut (thanks a lot 50 Shades of Grey for opening up a whole new world of books), but some good ol' mystery books in there too.
I have linked up for the very first time with the Literary Junkies!

  Pink Heels Pink Truck

THE QUESTIONS:
1. What are you currently reading? Right now I am reading Hairspray and Homicide by Cindy Bell. I found this as a free read on Amazon.

It's about a girl who returns to her small hometown to start over, defeated by the big city. Just as she is settling in, she is pegged as a murderer. Now she is out to clear her name.

So far it's a quick and light read.

2. Do you judge a book by its cover? What cover elements make you not want to pick up a book? Now that I mostly read ebooks, I notice that I don't really even look at the cover. I usually pick books that sound appealing to me through the synopsis.

3. Do you participate in any other bookish link-ups? Tell us about them so we can join next time! This is the first book link up I have joined. I'm super excited!

4. Have you ever watched a movie that was better than its book version? Explain yourself! Hmmm, I really don't think so. Is it even possible?

5. Summer is here! Do you read more often during any particular season? I go through phases. Sometimes I read a ton at a time and sometimes I don't read for months. I probably read more in the Fall/Winter because it's easy to curl up with a book... Summer time we are pretty busy and the kids are up later.

6. What is the worst book you’ve read this year? Why? If I lose interest in a book, I just stop reading it. So I haven't really read any bad books lately. I know, I'm a quitter! =)

Book Review- Uganda Be Kidding Me

May 19, 2014

Okay so I know a ton of people are totally offended by how vulgar and how inappropriate Chelsea Handler is... I am not one of them! I freaking love her! She's hilarious.

I have read all of Chelsea's books (yes we are on a first name basis) and seriously every time, I cry from laughing so hard!

This book was no disappointment! I read it in two days (because I am super cool, have a super exciting life and was in bed at 7:30 pm on a Friday night).

Here is my official review of Uganda Be Kidding Me... Read it!!! You'll laugh your ass off!

Oh and I am pretty sure that Chelsea Handler, Whitney Cummings and I would be the best of friends!!!

Sunday Social

May 18, 2014

Can I just say that I did pilates last night and my body hurts me!
Thanks Cassey from blogilates! I hope I wake up tomorrow and look like you!
Anyway, it's time for another Sunday Social...

1. What is your best summer memory as a kid?

I have so many great memories from being a kid... Maybe our trips to Lake Mead? Even though one trip my dad got bit by something and his hand swelled up the size of a baseball glove so we had to take him to an ER in the middle of the desert where they told him that the skin would turn black and fall off... It did, and it did... Gross!

2. What is your favorite summer drink?

Before I gave up alcohol, I'd say it would have to have been a Lava Flow. Now I love lemonade (only really tart) or black iced tea.

3. What is your favorite summer TV show?

Hmmm I don't know... What comes on during Summer time?

4. What is the best outdoor summer activity?

I love camping, being outside in the water. So anything that requires me sitting in the sun with cool water lapping over my feet.

5. What are your summer vacation essentials?

Floppy hat, flip flops, skirts, tank tops, books, magazines, my Starbucks cup and sunscreen.

Shut up already

May 15, 2014

Welcome to my alter personality... Negative Nancy...
This post is dedicated to the things I am so so so tired of hearing about...
1. Anything Bieber!!!! I literally want to drop kick that little shitbird!!! Seriously, the kid is ridiculous looking with his stupid pants and pathetic tattoos.
2. Miley and her tongue!!!
She'd actually be kind of cute if she would stop trying so hard to be a bad girl... Get over yourself and stop being so embarassing!!!
3. The Kardashians... It blows me away that these ridiculous people are famous because Kris was married to a famous attorney... That's it!!!! Without that they'd be just another stupid family...
4. Donald Sterling... you are ignorant and creepy... Go away! which also brings me to #5....

5. V Stiviano- she's obviously an alien, look at her dumb visor and rollerskates... Go home!
Okay I am done... Every once in a while, I need to vent about the ridiculous things that I see on TV... Maybe I should just leave the room when Tbone watches TMZ.
But in good news... Did you see the kitty that saved the little boy from a dog attack?

Tuuuuesday

May 13, 2014

Oh hi there Tuesday... and welcome to the house of sickness... Actually only Beaks is really sick... double ear infection, so we made a trip to the doctor yesterday and he's already feeling much better. But I am afraid that I am on the brink of catching his gross ooooey goooey green boogery cold.
I don't feel bad but I don't feel right so I am sure that I will have it just in time for a beautiful weekend.

It's super hot in these parts this week and I am refusing to turn on the oven... Does anyone have any ideas? I'd be perfectly happy with a salad but I have kids ya know so I kind of have to come up with something...

I really don't have anything to say today as you can see....

Hopefully I'll have something better for you tomorrow.

Sunday Social- 90's Edition

May 11, 2014

Welcome to another Sunday Social.

Today's questions....

1. What was your favorite TGIF show? Perfect Strangers hands down!!!! I freaking loved that show so much!!!! Balki Bartokomous was hilarious!

2. What was your favorite Saturday morning TV show? Jem and Kids Incorporated!!! I even had a special outfit that I'd wear... with fingerless gloves.

3. Mickey Mouse Club or Kids Incorporated.? Kids Incorporated all the way, in case you didn't get that from number 2.

4. Zack Morris or AC Slater? I guess if I had to choose, I'd choose Zack... I was more in to Edward Furlong back then though.

5. Which show would you love to see remade? (For example, Boy Meets World is back as Girl Meets World)
I don't think that remakes really can do the original justice. So I think we should let them be.

In Case You Were Wondering....

May 9, 2014

Making...Dinner... I needed to use some ground turkey or freeze it so I decided we are going to make haystacks... White rice, ground turkey with creamed of mushroom soup, then peas and melted cheese... It's totally a cheater dinner for when you have no idea or motivation to really cook dinner.

Cooking...see above

Drinking...Ice water (I know, boooooring!)

Reading...Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning.

Wanting...to order some Tarte foundation and brushes... I saw a great deal on QVC so as soon as my Makeup Forever foundation is gone, I am going to try Tarte's Amazonian Clay. I have heard such amazing things about it.

Looking...My giant fat cat Angel glare at the dogs, while she silently plots their demise.

Playing... I religiously play Bejeweled Blitz on my phone like a crazy person.

Wasting...

Wishing...to be on vacation. I wish we were at the river right now... My buns in a chair in the water while soaking up the sun!!!! But we aren't scheduled to go until June.

Enjoying...my family... the kids are home with us this weekend instead of their dads so we have to plan on some fun activities for this weekend. The weather is supposed to be in the high 90s. Maybe a beach day is in order.

Waiting...House of Cards to come back on... Unfortunately that doesn't happen til February 2015... I kind of have a while to go I guess.

Liking...my new sandals that my mom bought me for Mother's Day... Can't handle the coral cuteness.

Wondering...If my insurance issues will ever be worked out so I can make an eye appointment. I haven't gotten new glasses is like 10 years...

Loving...that tomorrow Beaks' kinder class is doing a Mother's Day performance... Can't wait to ugly cry in front of the other moms.

Hoping...a money tree to pop up in my back yard... We've been doing a lot of work back there, maybe it will happen?

Needing...new Clairsonic heads.

Smelling...my coconut lemongrass Scentsy.

Wearing...yoga pants and a hoodie.

Following... the new 24 show... I only watched a few seasons of the original 24 so I am kind of confused but it's really good so far.

Noticing...that I painted my finger nails last night and forgot my toes. Oooops! Now that I have some cute new sandals, I better fix my toesies.

Knowing...that my dad watches over me.

Thinking... about Summer time.

Feeling...Tired... I did NOT sleep well last night. We have Tbone's grandpa's dog for 4 nights since he's having back surgery (Tbone's grandpa, not the dog). He's such a good dog but I think I just felt like I needed to keep checking out him since he isn't used to being here.

Bookmarking...tons of stuff from Pinterest as always.

Opening...all of the windows because today has been beautiful and I love fresh air.

Feeling...very blessed in my life... I share it with amazing people.

It's been so long...

May 6, 2014

Since I have been shopping with my mommy... Like a really long time. This past weekend she took me shopping for Mother's Day... We had a great day...
First we stopped by Relay for Life Murrieta to support friends and see the opening speech made by my friend Ruth. She spoke about her husbands battle with mesothelioma and she spoke about my dad's past fight with the horrible cancer.

Then we went out to breakfast where the strangest thing happened... This 70 year old guy ( I know this because he told me 18 times ) decided that my mom and I needed to hear all of his conspiracy theories...

Then we headed over to the mall... She decided that she wanted to buy me a few things... I came home with theeeee cutest sandals.

black bow- INC from Macys
coral bow- Madden Girls from Macys

Obviously I love bows!!!! Then we went bra and underware shopping where I got a cute coral colored bra and the same one in aqua.

Then I finished off with an adorable white denim cropped vest.

We had so much fun. I can't remember the last time she and I did something like that.

Why I Relay

May 5, 2014

Do you know anyone who hasn't been touched by cancer in one way or another? ... I do NOT. Everyone I know has at least known someone who has had cancer, many have lost someone to cancer.

I come from a family that has been haunted by this horrible disease. In my short 34 years of life, I have lost my Grandmother to ovarian cancer, 3 great Aunt's and Uncles to different cancers, my Uncle, my Father to a lung cancer caused by asbestos, my mom's best friend to bone cancer, my Uncle's sister to pancreatic cancer, my friend Misha (mother of 8 children) to breast cancer, and my two boxers.

Then I have people in my life that have been lucky enough to beat this pointless disease. My best friend Lei has beat 4 different cancers, my Grandfather survived a throat cancer, and many friends that I have met along the way have survived cancer.

.... and currently a friend of mine is fighting the same cancer that took my father. Andy is fighting hard 4 years after they told him he'd live. He looks and is feeling great! He's amazing!

Relay for life is an event put on by the American Cancer Society, that fundraises and teaches awareness.

It's an event that is based off of the idea that cancer doesn't sleep... so we will not for 24 hours... For that 24 hours someone in our team will walk (whether it's in shifts or constant) constantly. During this 24 hours, teams honor people fighting, and remember people who have lost their battle. Each team is there for their own reason... My reason is that I don't ever want my children to have to hear "you have cancer". I want to help raise money and teach people the dangers of cancer.

During this 24 hours, I guarantee that you will meet people with the same goals, and sadness that you have, you will make friends that will be forever.

I Relay for my Grandma, my Great Aunts and Uncles, my Uncle Fred, for my mom's bff Jane, for my Uncle's sister Glenda, for my dogs Havok and Tank, for Leilani, my Grandpa, my friend Misha, for Andy and for my dad who just lost his battle this past September.

100% of these funds that we raise go to the American Cancer Society. Not only do these funds help with research, and to help find a cure... they help people who don't have rides to their doctors appointments, they will help a little girl get a wig after she's lost her hair from chemo, they will help set awareness and a message that we will NOT keep letting cancer take the people we love.

Relay for Life is now in 20 different countries and over 4 million people participate. You can find a Relay for Life event near you here.  If you aren't ready to commit to an event, you can always donate here.  Or if you would like to honor or remember someone you can dedicate a luminaria bag here

This will be my 5th year that the kids and I have beeninvolved in Relay and I cannot imagine not being a part of it.

I highly recommend you check it out.
