My Happy Place

February 10, 2014

So some of you know that I work for an animal non-profit charity called Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund.

We don't rescue on a regular basis (but we do sometimes) but more educate and raise funds for animals in need. We also offer programs for seniors who need therapy animals, military families who need long term fosters for their pets while deployed, and spay and neuter programs.

A little piece of me is always missing on the weekends because my kids are away at their dads. I miss them horribly and even though it's really nice to have a few minutes alone with Tbone, I just can't wait til they come home and I can cuddle their little faces!

Saturday Tbone and I got up early and headed up to Bow Wow Bungalow (2 hour drive). Bow Wow is the most awesome doggy daycare/boarding facility I have ever been to. It is owned by our rescue President Marcie and her husband Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. Marcie and Mike are huuuuge animal lovers and created a dog utopia. Marcie is awesome enough to let some of our permanent fosters live at Bow Wow.

This is Prinn, she runs the office during the day and then at night, heads upstairs with the night time manager to sleep in the apartment. She clearly has a rough life.

Now Tbone and I have a huge soft spot for Barton... He's our boy! We would gladly bring him home with us if he didn't want to play with Zeke... in his mouth... by chewing on him. Barton is a Tazzy Fund dog available for adoption but was abused so badly that he has permanent nerve damage and has a tough time going to the bathroom on his own. He is also afraid of most men and tends to be skittish with most things that dogs enjoy (balls, toys, etc.). Add these things on top of the fact that he weighs about 150lbs and eats more than a horse... it doesn't make him scream "ADOPTABLE". When Tbone lived up close to Bow Wow, we would go visit him pretty often, bring him a few In N' Out patties and take him for a walk. Barton who is afraid of most men, immediately fell in love with Tbone. He loves him, wags his tail for him and kisses him (which he just doesn't normally do).  Well since Tbone moved down here, it's been harder for us to go see Barton. Well we just heard that Barton will be heading to a permanent foster home (meaning that he will live in a home that we have approved and selected to stay as long as he needs to.. This could mean til he's old and grey or until the right person comes along for Barton). So Tbone and I had to go up and see him!!!!!

We couldn't be happier that Barton will be off to his new home this Wednesday where he will live with another one of our rescue boys Primus...

Primus

You deserve it Barton and we can't wait to come visit you in your new pad!!!!

Cuteness overload is not over yet...

Now this was the first time I was meeting our newest rescue Tank. I had seen pictures and heard his story but hadn't had a chance to go up and meet him yet... Oh boy, now I know why!!!! God couldn't have created a more perfect dog!!! If I didn't already have 2 rescue dogs and a rescue fat ass (cat), I'd have brought him right home!

Meet Tank!!!!

Tank

Tank is 1.5 years old. His owner purchased him from a breeder and then found out she was pregnant... She then tossed her puppy in the backyard without training or really even paying any attention to him. Then she relinquished him to us. Well yes, that is sad for Tank but so much better for him now. He has gone through training with flying colors!!! He is perfect!!! He is still young and has a lot of puppy energy but listens so well and is just a great boy! Tank weighs about 100 lbs and is a Neapolitan Mastiff/Johnson American Bulldog mix. He is basically 100lbs of solid muscle with the sweetest disposition.

Whoever get's this guy is a lucky lucky person!!! I cannot say enough good things about Tank!

Oh and if you remember Scooby from last week, he had his amputation surgery and is healing very well with his foster mom!

Scooby

Bow Wow is my happy place! I get to spend time with the dogs, playing with them, loving them, and letting them know that a family is out there just waiting to find them!!!

Happy Monday ya'll!

Five on Friday

January 31, 2014

So it's that time again... 5 on Friday:

[One] Over the past few weeks, I have managed to get to the gym at least 3 days a week. Yay me! Now I just need to quit my horrible eating habits... I do the absolute worst... I drink coffee from the time I get up thru lunch time. Then I eat dinner and want to snack before bed... I know it's the worst way to eat and I feed my kids breakfast, lunch and dinner... Why can't I do it for myself? Ughhh!

[Two] Superbowl is this Sunday and for the first time in I don't know how long... We don't have plans. The kids will be at their dads which leaves us to do whatever we want... But I find myself getting more and more worried about drunk drivers on days like this... I think I'd rather stay home and enjoy the day hermiting with my love.

[Three] In case you haven't heard, I'm obsessed with the show Banshee... It's on tonight!!! Yay!

[Four] Our rescue (I am the VP of an amazing non-profit organization called Tazzy Fund, there is a button on the right to check us out) just got the cutest sweetest boy.. He was hit and dragged by a car, mangling his back leg... It's so graphic, I'll spare you and edit the gorey-ness out. He was dumped in someones yard, this good Samaritan brought him to the vet so we could take over his care. Today he will have his leg amputated, be neutered and then sent to a foster home to heal and be loved. After he is healthy, he will be put up for adoption so we can find him his forever home.  So keep in touch if you are in the California area and are interested in this cute guy or if you just want to follow up on his story.

Meet Scooby

[Five] About a week or so ago, I signed up for 'Galentine's Day' over at Ashten's place. I was assigned a bloggy partner to get to know. We then spend $20 and send each other a 'Galentine' gift. Fun right? So last night I got an email letting me know that my partner is Megan over at Soup of the Day. If you haven't, go check her out!!! She could use some warm ''hellos'' since she is freezing over in Baltimore.

Hope you all have a great Superbowl weekend!!! Stay safe!
