Boy Behind the Blog #9

February 20, 2014

Boys Behind The Blog

[ONE] If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Tbone- Anywhere as long as it was with my family and in Maui... or Montana...

[TWO] Sand or Snow?
Tbone- Like to live?
Me- I don't know, any way you interpret it.
Tbone- like beach sand or Glamis sand?
Me- Just pick one.
Tbone- ok, I guess sand.

[THREE] What Winter Olympic sport would you rock?
Tbone- Winter?
Me- yes, Winter.
Tbone- The luge!
Me- Really? Why?
Tbone- cause it looks fun and you get to go fast! (words from a true racer at heart)

[FOUR] You're cooking a romantic dinner- What is your "go to" dish?
Tbone- something pasta! (duh he's Italian, does he ever think of anything other than pasta? or cheese?)

[FIVE] Fill in the blank. "This year I gave Kellee a _______ for Valentine's Day.
Tbone- well since I am a shitty guy, I just got you a card... because we went to the river.
Me- Um a trip to the river and a card doesn't make you a shitty person!!! I'd rather have that than flowers and chocolates any day!!!!!

Sh*t Men Say- Edition #2

February 11, 2014

Welcome to the 2nd edition of Sh*t men say hosted by Danae over at Duh Danae & Amanda with Voyage of the MeeMee.

Voyage of the Mee Mee

Today I'll be sharing an example of how Tbone and I talk to each other on a normal basis....

For some reason we only speak to each other in a Russian accent (sometimes Ukrainian/Polish/Italian)... The kids don't even notice it anymore since it is a daily occurance. Often times, we find ourselves talking like that in public (ex... me talking to the clerk at Target). I don't know why we do this... we just do... Don't judge!!!

Anywhoooo, we also do a little weird thing and add the words "face" and "pants" to almost anything.
Example:
Tbone as he's leaving for work at the ungodly hour of 4:15- "I love your face... pants..."

This has somehow escalated to now adding multiple "face" and "pants" to things...
Example:
Tbone to Boogie last night as we were tucking her in to bed- "Goodnight, I love your face... pants... potato head, pumpkin patch face... pants..." (all with a Russian accent)

This resulted in Boogie laughing so hard that she couldn't catch her breath... and that ladies and ladies is my Sh*t Men Say...

He's probably calling this guy "lizard pants face"

My Happy Place

February 10, 2014

So some of you know that I work for an animal non-profit charity called Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund.

We don't rescue on a regular basis (but we do sometimes) but more educate and raise funds for animals in need. We also offer programs for seniors who need therapy animals, military families who need long term fosters for their pets while deployed, and spay and neuter programs.

A little piece of me is always missing on the weekends because my kids are away at their dads. I miss them horribly and even though it's really nice to have a few minutes alone with Tbone, I just can't wait til they come home and I can cuddle their little faces!

Saturday Tbone and I got up early and headed up to Bow Wow Bungalow (2 hour drive). Bow Wow is the most awesome doggy daycare/boarding facility I have ever been to. It is owned by our rescue President Marcie and her husband Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. Marcie and Mike are huuuuge animal lovers and created a dog utopia. Marcie is awesome enough to let some of our permanent fosters live at Bow Wow.

This is Prinn, she runs the office during the day and then at night, heads upstairs with the night time manager to sleep in the apartment. She clearly has a rough life.

Prinn

Now Tbone and I have a huge soft spot for Barton... He's our boy! We would gladly bring him home with us if he didn't want to play with Zeke... in his mouth... by chewing on him. Barton is a Tazzy Fund dog available for adoption but was abused so badly that he has permanent nerve damage and has a tough time going to the bathroom on his own. He is also afraid of most men and tends to be skittish with most things that dogs enjoy (balls, toys, etc.). Add these things on top of the fact that he weighs about 150lbs and eats more than a horse... it doesn't make him scream "ADOPTABLE". When Tbone lived up close to Bow Wow, we would go visit him pretty often, bring him a few In N' Out patties and take him for a walk. Barton who is afraid of most men, immediately fell in love with Tbone. He loves him, wags his tail for him and kisses him (which he just doesn't normally do).  Well since Tbone moved down here, it's been harder for us to go see Barton. Well we just heard that Barton will be heading to a permanent foster home (meaning that he will live in a home that we have approved and selected to stay as long as he needs to.. This could mean til he's old and grey or until the right person comes along for Barton). So Tbone and I had to go up and see him!!!!!

We couldn't be happier that Barton will be off to his new home this Wednesday where he will live with another one of our rescue boys Primus...

Primus

You deserve it Barton and we can't wait to come visit you in your new pad!!!!

Cuteness overload is not over yet...

Now this was the first time I was meeting our newest rescue Tank. I had seen pictures and heard his story but hadn't had a chance to go up and meet him yet... Oh boy, now I know why!!!! God couldn't have created a more perfect dog!!! If I didn't already have 2 rescue dogs and a rescue fat ass (cat), I'd have brought him right home!

Meet Tank!!!!

Tank

Tank is 1.5 years old. His owner purchased him from a breeder and then found out she was pregnant... She then tossed her puppy in the backyard without training or really even paying any attention to him. Then she relinquished him to us. Well yes, that is sad for Tank but so much better for him now. He has gone through training with flying colors!!! He is perfect!!! He is still young and has a lot of puppy energy but listens so well and is just a great boy! Tank weighs about 100 lbs and is a Neapolitan Mastiff/Johnson American Bulldog mix. He is basically 100lbs of solid muscle with the sweetest disposition.

Whoever get's this guy is a lucky lucky person!!! I cannot say enough good things about Tank!

Oh and if you remember Scooby from last week, he had his amputation surgery and is healing very well with his foster mom!

Scooby

Bow Wow is my happy place! I get to spend time with the dogs, playing with them, loving them, and letting them know that a family is out there just waiting to find them!!!

Happy Monday ya'll!

Dinosaurs & Tampons:: Five Things

January 23, 2014

So I decided to copy Kenzie over at Life & Lemons by doing a five things post.

Five Things...

... I am passionate about:

1. Family- If you read my blog regularly, you will know I am very passionate about family (that sounds a little creepy now that I've typed that). But really... family is everything to me!

2. Animals- this means everything from educating people on spay/neuter to spending time at our rescue with pups like Barton who has been waiting for a home for way too long.

3. American Cancer Society/Relay for Life- I have lost so many in my family to cancer. I HATE HATE HATE it! Especially since I just lost my dad this past September to the only cancer that is caused by something outside of the body (asbestos).

4. Mason Jars- I use them to drink out of, to cook, to decorate and to craft. They are everywhere in my house!

5. Coffee- I looove coffee! I am not a coffee snob by any means! I don't ask for my coffee to be a certain temp when I go to Starbucks, I don't spend a ton of money for super rare and crazy coffees... I just enjoy my 2 cups every morning and the occasional Starbucks. Since my brother bought me an Aeropress for Christmas.... I am in love with it. It brews your coffee to come out so smooth, it almost tastes creamy!!!! I highly recommend it.

...You'll Find In My Bag:

1. A dinosaur- no joke, I found a big plastic dinosaur in my purse.. Weird only if you don't have kids.
2. Tampons
3. Baby Lips
4. Wallet
5. Phone

...Things I'd Like To Do Before I Die:

1. Visit other countries- to this date, the only country I have been to other than my own... is Mexico.
2. Sky Dive
3. Swim with manatees
4. Move to Montana/Wyoming or Idaho
5. Build our dream home.

...Things You Will Find In My Bedroom:

1. Way too many pairs of flip flops. Tbone literally has 3 pairs of the exact same pair of flip flops in the exact same color and I probably have at least 7 pairs of plain black flip flops.

2. My ipad
3. A mason jar of water on my nightstand
4. Family pictures
5. A couple of boxes we haven't un-packed (we moved in October).

...Quirks I Have

1. I have tryphophobia
2. I have arachnaphobia
3. I cannot sleep with socks on my feet no matter how cold I am.
4. I am a recovering hypochondriac
5. I get the equivalent of the cat crazies at least once a night. (I get super crazy and hyper and Tbone is left wondering "WTF?"

 photo tumblr_mz1ohipTec1tp74e3o1_400.gif

... Reads I Love:

1. Anything from Kelley Armstrong
2. Memoirs of a Gas Station: A Delightfully Awkward Journey Across the Alaskan Tundra
3. Bridge to Terabithia
4. Chelsea Handler's books
5. Black Dagger Brotherhood

... and there you have it. My list of fives.

BBB #8 but my first one

January 16, 2014

Boys Behind The Blog

No, not the better business bureau, it's Boys Behind the Blog!!!!  But I'll get to that in a minute...

I must say that they gym kicked my a$$ today!!! I may fall face first on my keyboard so I apologize in advance.

Anywhoodles, back to the BBB at hand... This is my first BBB and I must admit that I hope it goes better next time... Tbone kind of was like a deer in headlights when I told him about this little link up project with Never The Same Spice Twice & Mal Smiles. Number 1, he hates pretty much all social media and the internet. Number 2, he doesn't like people knowing his business. I am pretty sure he is either in witness protection and I don't know it or he's running from the authorities.

So anyway, here is the exact way he answered the questions for Boys Behind the Blog #8.

1. What was your favorite movie of 2013?
Tbone- *blank stare* "I don't know, can you write these down and send them to work with me tomorrow so I can look them over?"
Me- No!

2. What is your all time favorite movie quote?
Tbone- "Say 'what' again. Say 'what' again, I dare you, I double dare you motherfucker, say what one more Goddamn time!'' -Pulp Fiction

3. What is your favorite type of movie? (action, scary, comedy, etc)
Tbone- "Comedy"

4. What is your New Years Resolution?
Tbone- "Uh"
Me- "how about stop smoking?"
Tbone- "yeah that"

5. Finish the sentence: This year I will...
Tbone- "I told you, stop smoking"
Me- "no that was for question #4"
Tbone- "well it's to stop smoking"
Me- "well that went well! Can't wait for the next BBB!

Day 27: 7 Things I Can See From Where I'm Sitting

December 27, 2013

Well now that I have taken down all of the Christmas decorations (except for the tree), my view isn't as exciting. But here are 7 things that I can see from where I'm sitting.

1. My lovely deer head that I love so much! Thank you Target clearance section!!!! I really want to glitter his antlers but I think that may be pushing Tbone over the edge (he calls glitter "Devils Dust").

2. The kids playing on their new tablets that they got for Christmas. (They must have an awesome mom and stepdad-ish guy).

3. The fireplace that we have never used. We had hoped to use it on Christmas eve but it was 80 degrees so that didn't exactly work out.

4. A picture of my dad. I miss him so much! It's been almost 4 months since he's been gone and it's starting to hit me finally.

5. Zeke and Angel trying to fight for a spot of sunlight next to the sliding glass door. My money is on Angel. She's large and in charge. I mean, how many of you have cats with a double chin?

6. An empty mantle... I haven't decided how to decorate it for New Years.

7. My delicious cup of coffee made from my new Aeropress, compliments of my brother. If you are a fan of coffee... try one! It makes your coffee taste so smooth, it tastes creamy!

Day 20: 10 Things That Make Me Happy

December 20, 2013

I am so lucky to have a great life... Now I am not saying that I don't have bad days and things in my life that I would change... but I am very lucky to have a great family, great friends and great surroundings. That's the most important right? So it's hard to choose just 10 things. But I'll try anyway *smile*

1. My family! I was blessed with an amazing family! My parents were married until my dad passed away this past September, I have three great brothers who all have awesome wives... I have 2 nieces and 2 nephews, & I have a pug nephew and a boston niece! Then there are my kiddos.... I couldn't ask for sweeter, cuter or more perfect children... Although I would request that they get along better!

Boogs

Beaks

I just love them so much... This obviously includes my animals. They are family too!

2. Tbone- just when I was totally okay with being a single mom for the rest of my life... this guy walks in to my life... Well he didn't really walk in... he actually lived 2 hours away. But we had mutual friends and we just clicked... He was my missing piece. *awwww* and he loves the kids as if they were his own.

3. My friends- I have a great circle of friends... They understand that I'm a hermit and don't like to leave my house... and they sorta still love me.

4. Tazzy Fund- I am so lucky to be a part of something so amazing. I'm the VP for Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund. Tazzy Fund has helped the lives of so many animals and their people.

5. Coffee- I love coffee. Like looooove coffee.. Yes I love fooffy coffee with lots of caramel but I really love just plain black coffee too. That's what I have every morning. It's my happiness in a cup!

6. Scentsy- Enter shamless plug... yes I sell Scentsy but really only to get mine free or at a discount. I am the opposite of a salesman. I completely believe in the product (which is why I have 7 currently plugged in, in my house), but I just hate when people push things on me, so I can't do it to them. My business is strictly by word of mouth. Anyway, the scents are great and I change them with the seasons and my moods.

7. The River- this is my happy place! I am lucky enough to have access to my Aunt and Uncles river house in Needles on the Colorado River. I have been going to the river for as long as I can remember. I love the 110 degree hot heat (as long as I can just soak in the water and not have to do anything physical), the long summer nights, the smell of the wet asphalt on the launch ramp and the smell of race fuel. Mmmmmm.

8. Hiking- although I haven't gone in forevvvvver. I love the outdoors, the beauty, the quiet, and the feeling when you are done. It's been so long, that I don't even have pictures on this computer.

9. Halloween- I love everything about this magical holiday!!! I won't post more pics of myself because I put those back in the "5 Costumes I Have Worn" entry.

Beaks and his Auntie

Boogs as a ballerina skeleton

Steph as the cutest bat ever.

My adorable mom in her homemade witch costume. She and my Aunt made matching ones. They are so cute!

10. The Pioneer Woman- I want to be her!

What makes you happy?
