Day 25: My Favorite Things About Christmas

December 25, 2013

What is not to love about Christmas? There is family, food, presents, food, decorations, food, most people are in a great loving mood, and food!!!!

Honestly before I had kids, I could have been okay without even celebrating Christmas if it weren't for breaking my poor mother's heart. But then I had children of my own and then I completely understood where she was coming from. The feeling of seeing your children so excited and happy is just such a great feeling that I cannot describe. The magic of Christmas is just that.... MAGIC!

So here are my very favorite things about Christmas in no particular order at all.

Being with my family. I love my family! I have been blessed with a pretty awesome one!!!! This year was tough being that it was the first Christmas of my life without my father and I miss him so much!

Christmas Eve with my kids. Making reindeer food, Santa cookies, snuggling up on the couch to watch The Elf on the Shelf.

The wonderful feeling of everyone being just a little bit more thankful than before.

Watching everyone open their presents and seeing their expression.

Seeing my kids look at what Santa brought them in disbelief!

Merry Christmas from Us!

Real vs Fake

November 26, 2013

This post is prob not about what you were thinking... Real vs. Fake. Hehe. I'm talking Christmas trees, get your mind out of the gutter!

So I've had a fake tree for most of my life due to the fact that my family would head to the Bay Area shortly after Christmas and my parents were worried about all of the normal "tree" concerns, fires, etc. So I was so used to having a fake tree that I just carried this tradition on in my adult life. I mean it's really nice to not have to vacuum up pine needles, water the thing, and to have a tree already lit and just in the garage.

Now that Tbone is part of our family and we are spending out first Christmas together... He thinks I am a horrible mother we should have a real tree (He is appalled that I have raised my children with a fake tree).

A real tree always sounds so nice but then when you think about it... You have to find just the right tree, fight a billion people for said tree, keep it alive, string your own lights, blah blah blah. Maybe I'm just a brat stubborn and set in my ways, but a fake tree sounds so much more appealing. I mean, they are perfect! But Tbone does have a point. He wants to start a tradition by taking the kids to pick out a tree, and all that stuff. Ughhhhhh!

What do you guys think? Real? Fake? What is your reasoning?

Who do you think will win our little tree battle? Stay tuned to see.

Pretty sure I will own this one day!!!!
