5 on Friday- Major Injuries

February 28, 2014

It's Friday Bitches!!!!!! Woohoo, I'm going to enjoy my weekend... Oh wait, Southern California is flooded and I am not leaving the house until I see sunshine! Grrrrr, I guess it's only fair since the rest of the country has been frozen for the past few months, but I haaaate gloomy weather! I need sunshine!!! So it's obvious that I want to live in Montana! (Don't ask).

If you know me, you will know that I am was a daredevil  an accident waiting to happen... If it can happen, it will happen to me. So I thought that today I would share 5 of my major injuries/accidents with you.

[ONE] When I was 4 I got a guinea pig... He was little, brown and kind of resembled a football. I loved him and named him Squeaky (real original, I know). I was sooo excited about getting a new pet, that I had to sleep with his cage right next to my bed.  Now my bed was a tall captains bed with drawers in it, so I naturally slept with a railing so I wouldn't fall out... Well I thought I was a big girl and could sleep without a railing this particular night (plus it allowed me to see Squeaky better). I bet you know where this is going.... In the middle of the night, I rolled off the bed and caught my cheek on the corner of Squeaky's wire cage.

My parent's woke up to me screaming and came in to see blood everywhere and my cheekbone sticking out of my face. They raced me to the ER where the doctor's strapped me down and stitched my face. Now, you can really only see the scar if you know it's there. I was very lucky that I didn't loose my eye.

[TWO] Not sure if this was before the above incident... It was pretty close to the same time... I decided that it would be fun to do a summersault down the stairs... Kids, don't do this at home, it never ends well. I smacked my head on the cedar chest at the bottom of the stairs and cracked my head open... My dad was out of town (he was gone 35 weeks a year most of my life) but luckily my mom was like McGyver. She masking taped my head and took me to the ER...

[THREE] When I was about 8, my family drove up to Big Bear where we had a cabin. Before Winter started, they wanted to seal the driveway... So we took a big tub of Thompson's waterseal up the mountain to work on it. I was always nosey and had to be the center of everything so while my dad opened up the can, I was standing right over it. Well if you have ever taken a bag of potato chips up in a high elevation you will notice that the bag fills with air... Well the same thing for a can of chemicals. As soon as my dad opened the can, Thompson's waterseal shot straight in to my eyes. My parents ran me in to the bathroom and rinsed my eyes out and then took me to the ER. They flushed my eyes for a few hours and made sure there was no permanent damage. There wasn't. I was super lucky!!!

[FOUR] I was riding bikes with my neighbors when I was about 10. We were doing wheelies on my driveway. After my perfectly executed wheelie, I leaned forward to come down but went right over the handlebars... landing right on my chin. I stood up to see my neighbor's staring at me. Apparently my chin bone was sticking out.  Back to the ER I went.

[FIVE] When I was in Jr. High our family went on vacation to Grandby Lake in Colorado. Our friends had a cabin there and we were going to spend a week fishing and relaxing on the lake. While I was baiting my hook, our friends little girl ran by and tripped on my pole which ripped the hook right out of my hand and straight in to my shin. Back to the ER I went... where they removed the hook from my leg.

There are so many more so stay tuned for next Friday... Happy weekend!

Holy Yoga

February 25, 2014

So I have taken up yoga...
Ouch!

I always thought yoga was stretching... Stupid me, I am not sure how I didn't realize that most people who are in to yoga all look amazing...

So today I sit here in pain (good pain, whatever that is) and type... because my fingers are about the only part of my body that doesn't hurt.

So in my pain, I leave you with these...

yep

#truestory

thank god!

Do any of you do yoga? Do you love it?

My Anti-Bucket List

February 24, 2014

Most people have a bucket list of some sort... A list that they want to take on before they buy the farm, kick the bucket, keel over...

Instead of a bucket list, I am making an anti-bucket list. These are things that I hope to never accomplish!

[ONE] I hope to never overcome my fear of spiders!!!! To overcome said fear, I'd have to face my fear and there is no way in hell I will ever ever ever do that!

#truestorybro

[TWO] Enjoy a hot air balloon ride... NEVER!!! I live where they do hot air balloon rides every day and I see them scatter the sky every morning! It's beautiful to look at but in no way shape or form,
do I ever want to be up there in one of those baskets attached to a balloon. That's just
crazy talk!

[THREE] Eat spreadable cheese... Now I don't mean brie or something fancy like that. I mean
Easy cheese!!! Disgusting, I want to barf just thinking about it. I don't care how
tasty you think it is on crackers, it's still just power bait!!! *Hurl*

[FOUR] Tattoo my neck/throat... You may ask, "why not? you are tattooed everywhere else" Well
my friends, the answer is simple... I made a promise to my mommy. Laugh if you will
but my mom seriously hates every single one of my tattoos. Like she still cries every
time I get tattooed. So she made me promise to never ever ever tattoo my neck/throat. *wah*

.... but maaaa, it's so pretty!!!! no?

[FIVE] Move to a city... Nope won't do it... I already live in a town of 100k and even though we are kind of spread out, I hate having neighbors... I don't like hearing people sneeze in their
backyard! I 'd be happiest in a town with one blinking stop light!

[SIX] Watch The Notebook!!!! I flat out refuse to ever watch this God forsaken movie!

why would i choose to cry?

[SEVEN] Go to Magic Mountain. Went when I was like 4 with my older brother... Won't go again! Rollercoasters- DISLIKE

[EIGHT] Shark cage diving. No thank you!

[NINE] Go on top of the Stratosphere. Me no likey heights, and see #7!!!

[TEN] Never ever ever again Google "botflys"!!! Just trust me!!!!

February 21, 2014

HTML Map

I am extremely lucky to have the best job ever... ok it may not be the best job ever because I don't get paid in money... I get paid in slobbery dog kisses!!!! Don't hate!
I am the Vice President of Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund.

These are our two adoptable boys Tank (top) and Barton (bottom)

ABOUT US

Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund is a 501(c)3 Not for Profit California State Charitable Organization. Our tax id number is 20-2394081. Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund was founded in 2005 by Leilani and Rick Laca, Tazzy's humans. After Tazzy passed away from cancer in late 2004 they made a commitment to help animals in need to honor and thank him for the love he brought into their lives.

Since then many amazing people have joined the Board of Directors and the  mission of Tazzy Fund. Each of them bringing their passion and memory of the canine and feline loved ones they have loved and lost to old age and illness. We all work endlessly to help  animals in need to perpetuate their memory.

Mission
Tazzy Fund operates as a full functioning animal rescue, while focusing on seniors and the medically challenged. Our goal is to offer these loving seniors a grand retirement no matter how much time they have left. A medically challenged rescued animal can count on top rated medical care and a safe warm place with lots of love to rest until a forever home is found.

Tazzy Fund also offers many community programs that assist pet owners. Our goal is to offer services that will allow people to keep their pets in the home rather then situations that would otherwise cause them to relinquish their pets to an animal shelter. These assistance programs include, medical care, pet food, medication, short term boarding, nutrition counseling, spay and neuter programs  and direction to resources available that we may not provide.

Who's Tazzy?Our Baby Tazzy!

Tazzy was 7 years old when he needed to be rescued. A victim of divorce, he found himself without someone willing to keep him and his mother. The stress of potential separation suddenly killed his mother and poor Taz was alone and in need of a forever home. We spent some time getting to know him, I had my heart set on a puppy and I was concerned about his age. In no time at all he had won our hearts completely. It happened so naturally no one noticed. It was like I called God directly and put in an order for the perfect dog and I got him!!! The next 4 and 1/2 years flew by filled with love, fun, tons of photos, birthday celebrations (Tazzy's) and our life was perfect. On Tazzy's 11th Birthday we had a terrible day. Taz got sick and had emergency surgery for a mass in his stomach that burst. The results were not good. Taz had cancer and it was not curable. They said we had little time left with our baby. We took him home and showered him with love, kisses, yummies and Mr. popular had more visitors from family and friends then I ever have in my lifetime. late Saturday September 25, 2004 with the love and support of friends we had to help our sweet Tazzy pass peacefully. The worst day of our life!!  We knew it would be hard but boy we had no idea how unbearable the pain would be.

For our friends and family this left them helpless because all of them saw there was absolutely NOTHING they could do to comfort us. We have been asked so many times please let us do something for you and the loss you have suffered. We finally had a idea. A medical donation fund in Taz's memory through Boxer Rescue Los Angeles. We were grateful to meet people who spend their time caring for these wonderful dogs, whether they have medical issues, behavior issues or just need sometime to adjust to their life.  We wanted another adult Boxer to fill the empty space in our home and family. Tazzy will never be replaced in our hearts but we will make room and space for another. Spending a short time at Boxer Rescue LA was all it took to decide to create Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund!

WIR- What I'm Reading

I know that a lot of you out there love to read... I know because many of us are friends on Goodreads. If we aren't, go ahead and add me here!

I love to read... I read whenever I get a chance... But being a mother means that I don't have a lot of reading time. So the time I do have to read is after the kids go to bed but by then, I get through about one page before I am asleep with my ipad smooshed up against my face.

I did finally finish the book Raw by Bella Aurora... It was an intense read and I loved it. I even stayed awake late and read the book in 3 days...

Twitch is a dark and twisted character who makes you keep turning the pages!!! I highly recommend it if you like "dark romance" types.

Now since I finished this book, I have started Sins & Needles (The Artist's Trilogy #1) by Karina Halle
So far, I love it and just need time to sit and finish it. I've had two sick kids since we have been home from our mini vacay and that doesn't leave much time. So I should finish it in the next few days and report back to ya'll. Until then, enjoy those recommendations!
